A small group of Math teachers from the ESU 13 region are spending two days with Cheryl Olson

learning to use Geogebra. For those familiar with Geometer's Sketchpad, Geogebra is a similar application. The great thing about Geogebra is that it is a free open source application. You can download the application and install it, or download a small java start-up file that will launch the web-based version of the program. This is the recommended method because you will always be running the most recent version.

The software was created by Markus Hohenwarter during is his Master's thesis, and continued development while working on his PhD thesis in Mathematics Education at the University of Salzburg (Austria). He is now working on GeoGebra at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton (USA).

As part of the Energizing Research class participants worked with a variety of Web 2.0 applications. ESU 13 is currently running Moodle, Elgg, MediaWiki, and Gallery.
